Blood Moons Explained

lunar-eclipse
Here is what I compiled and wrote last year concerning the so called “Blood Moons.” The only “Blood Moon” to be seen in Israel will be the 4th one occurring next Tabernacles September 27-28, 2015. So we shall see what develops as the USA signs an accord with Iran….

The unusual tetrad phenomenon of “Blood Moons,” occurring on Passover and Tabernacle, this has not been overstated in Israel but it does offer some food for thought.
April 14-15, 2014; October 8-9, 2014; April 3-4, 2015, and September 27-28, 2015.
Blood moon tetrads:
Erev Pesach (Eve of Passover) in April 2014 and Erev Succot (Eve of Tabernacles) October 2014 there was a total lunar eclipse, expected again this coming Passover. The red moon that adorned the western skies unfortunately was not visible in Israel. This was the result of a total lunar eclipse that caused the moon to appear in a reddish color, an astronomical phenomenon known particularly at the spring and fall harvests as the “(Red) Hunting” or as now referred to as the “Blood Moon.” The intriguing ‘blood’ color is the result of a lineup of the sun, earth and moon, the moon passing through the earth’s shadow blocking most of the normal multi-rainbow colors but the outer infra-red rays are diffracted owing the atmosphere encompassing the earth. The 2014 Passover “blood moon” is the first of a present day series of four blood moons known as a tetrad within a short 18 month period: April 15, 2014; October 8, 2014; April 4, 2015, and September 28, 2015, the last in this tetrad series will be the only one to be visible in Israel. This close proximity of the infrequent interval incidence is an unusual occurrence. Prior to the present day, there has been a period of 300 years with an absence from a recorded tetrad lunar eclipse. NASA is allegedly reported as saying, “Getting four lunar eclipses in a row is like drawing an extraordinary lunar poker hand of four of a kind.”

Some Judaic thought concerning blood moon associations:
The bible begins with the second Hebrew letter because first there is G-d, and then comes His Word in which it is stated,” And God said, let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.” (Gen 1:14) Not necessarily indicating miraculous events but rather ‘significant signposts’ for determining the annual cycle. The first eclipse of the present 2014/15 series coincides with the Eve of Passover being the first full moon of the spring month, and a celebration of freedom and salvation, from the four hundred years of Egyptian bondage and new beginnings, commemorating the first Passover at the Exodus and concluding the 40 years of wandering at Passover that inaugurating the entry into the Promised Land. The grand finale from bondage to salvation, remembers how the Almighty smote the Egyptians with the ten plagues as Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and refused to follow His command that was delivered through Moses to free the Israelites (Jewish People). The first of the plagues recalls turning the water into “blood” and the final blow or tenth plague was the slaying of the firstborn, which culminated into that, “the Egyptians were urgent with the people, to send them out of the land in haste…” (Ex 12:33). Death conjures a synonymic thought with blood, as the Israelites in their first Passover daubed their doorposts and lintels with the blood of lambs so that the Angel of Death would ‘pass over’ their houses leaving them unharmed and not suffer during that fateful night that struck the Egyptian firstborn.

Two millennium of recorded blood moon tetrads coinciding with the Biblical Holy Days and sacrificial rites:
All of the four blood moons occur on the first and final Foot Pilgrimages to Jerusalem (Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles) when the Temple blood sacrifices transpired. The Passover 2014 blood moon reoccurs at Sukkot / Tabernacles 2014, similarly again in 2015 on Passover and Sukkot / Tabernacles 2015. This phenomenon has only occurred eight known times in the past two millennium:
1. 162-163 CE
2. 795-796 CE
3. 842-843 CE
4. 860-861 CE
5. 1493-1494 CE
6. 1949-1950 CE
7. 1967-1968 CE
8. 2014-2015 CE

On each of the last three recorded ‘blood moons’ key events of Judaic importance occurred, they were events associated with blood and changed the directive course of Jewish history.
• Spanish Inquisition – There was a blood moon in 1493, when Tomas de Torquemada, the first Spanish Inquisitor, began slaughtering Jews and their blood was spilled closing the ‘Golden Age’ of Jewish history.
• Israeli Declaration of Independence – Subsequent to the Holocaust and annihilation of Six Million Jews in Europe, there was the bloody War of Israeli Independence, culminating in a blood moon at the time of the Declaration of Independence in May 1948.
• The Six Day War in 1967 – Another horrific and decisive war spilling a lot of blood that concluded with Jerusalem being liberated and the return to the Holy City after 2000 years of Exile.

The Blood Moon, could it be considered as a heavenly sign or covenant like the rainbow?
Some world believers of varied persuasions might well associate and attribute the blood moon phenomenon predominantly to the teachings of the biblical prophet Joel, suggesting something miraculous or just as easily refer to earthly warring events of blood, fire and smoke distorting human observation of the sky’s appearance beside look beyond the Old Testament into the New Testament interpreting the signs of the times. Taking note the Matthew 24:29 has to be accompanied by falling stars:-

Joel 3:3 – “I will set wonders in the heavens and the earth: blood and fire and pillars of smoke; the sun will turn to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and awesome Day of G-d.”

Isa 13:10 – The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.

Mal 4:1-5 – “For behold, the day comes, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble; the day that comes shall burn them up, says the LORD of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. But for you who fear my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings. You shall go forth leaping like calves from the stall. And you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the Lord of hosts. “Remember the law of my servant Moses, the statutes and ordinances that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.5 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes.

Matt 24:29 – “Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’

Rev 6:12 – When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood.

The modern blood moon theories are greatly stimulated particularly by the concluding words of Joel, some suggest that the blood moons are a sign from the Almighty as we are drawing one step closer to the coming of the Messiah, without knowing when the ‘great and terrible day comes we should constantly be ready to receive the Messiah. Is there an honest expectancy of something miraculously spectacular to occur during the course of this present day tetrad of full moons? Some apocalyptic speculations are at their zenith during this series of the four blood moon sequence, pointing towards the end times. Others say don’t be too quick to interpret, as Jesus taught, “An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign,” Matt 12:39 and in addition to, “that day and hour, knoweth no man, no, not the angels of Heaven, but My Father only.” (Matt 24:36) and In conclusion one may speculate but no one can be absolutely certainty, the Dead Sea Scrolls forewarn about being lead astray by interpretations (ref: 4Q166 / 4QpHosa). The Judaic teaching in the Talmud brings serenity to these speculative omens by quoting, “… when the Jews do the will of the Omnipresent they need not worry about all these omens, as it is stated: ‘Thus said the Almighty: do not learn from the way of the nations. Do not be frightened by the signs of the heavens, though the nations are …” (Talmud Sukkah 29a). Who knows when the Messiah will come? Just simply be ready now and don’t miss the boat!
