Egyptian Archeologists Discover
 Tomb of Mehu Near Giza
Opens to Public

Egypte has opened the Tomb of Mehu to tourists.   The tomb was discovered in 1940 but this is the first time it has been opened to the public.  The Egyptian Antiquities Organization has been restoring and prepping the tomb for this opening and viewing by the public.

The Tomb of Mehu, is located in the Saqqare necropolis new Giza.  It is believed to date back approximately four millenia and is filled with vibrant paintings from Egypt' sixth Dynasty. Mehu was a top official under King Pepi I.  He was a vizier in the dynasty, the chief of the judges and the director of the palace.  Mehu is believed to be buried in the tomb along with his son, Meren Ra and grandson Heteb Kha.  The tomb has four chambers but it seems only 2 chambers are open at this time.

The tomb  opened for public viewing on September 8, 2018.  The tomb is filled with murals on the walls; here are some of the images you will see inside the tomb.   The images portray a story of Mehu hunting and gathering a harvest and dancing.   It also depicts his 48 titles and and Hieroglyphics.   The tomb opened on September 8, 2018 and Egypt is welcoming tourists and media to come and view this new discovery and ensure that traveling in Egypt is safe.   Contact Maranatha Tours to find out more about our group tours to Egypt and how we can create a tour for your church to experience this new Egyptian discovery.
