Israel is currently headlining in the news, so it’s not surprising that we’ve received questions about safety and security. There are currently more than 200,000 visitors in Israel and there are no indications of any cutting their visits short. Here is a testimony form Gary and April Bowman from Paseo Del Rey Church Chula Vista, CA who is in Israel for the Month of July watch!

Hi Friends,

April and I are in Israel as part of our sabbatical. Despite some (sad) tensions, we’re having a wonderful adventure, and feel safe. We just returned to our apartment in Jerusalem from a three day weekend in the Golan and Galilee. Beautiful! Hiking, water falls, full moon off our small patio at our B and B in Bnei Yehuda, forests, mountains, rich biblical history, some great conversations w new friends, and some good food.

To wander around the Sea of Galilee and know this is the lake we read of so often in Gods word and that Jesus knew so well is an awesome experience!

Back to school tomorrow. We’re studying “Conflict Resolution” (timely?) at Hebrew University. A great experience, and an awesome professor.

If you’d like to follow some of our journey, you can do some at our blog:

Many blessings in Jesus the King of all,

Gary and April

Update from Israel Ministry of Tourism

Dear Travel partners and friends,

Israel is currently headlining in the news, so it’s not surprising that we’ve received questions about safety and security. Here are the facts:

•For some days rockets have been fired from the Palestinians’ Gaza Strip into Israel. A majority of the rockets have been brought down by Israel’s Iron Dome anti-missile system.

•Individuals and groups are continuing to depart for Israel as planned and Israel is enjoying its best tourism year ever. There are currently more than 200,000 visitors in Israel and there are no indications of any cutting their visits short.

•Some 80 airlines operate flights to Israel. Every day, as many as 20 non-stop flights connect the U.S. and Israel. These flights are operated not only by our national airline, El Al, but also by Delta, United and US Airways, none of which would dream of sending their aircraft into harm’s way.

•The Ministry of Tourism has opened a Situation Room to monitor the situation, and coordinate activities with other critical government agencies along with tour operators, hotels, and tourist attraction sites.

•The safety and well-being of visitors is paramount. Israel is well prepared and committed to handling all scenarios. If we thought for a moment that travel to Israel right now was not appropriate, we’d have no hesitation in simply suggesting you postpone your trip.

•All certified tourism areas and attractions are working as usual and are open to the general public.

I am attaching a letter from Mr. Oren Drori, Senior deputy to the Director General of the Ministry of Tourism addressing the situation – CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE LETTER

I hope this will address any concerns you may have. Feel free to contact us with comments or concerns.
